THE NICHOLL
FELLOWSHIP
The Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting program is an international competition
open to screenwriters who have not earned more than $5,000 writing for
film or television. Entry scripts must be the original work of a sole
author or two collaborative authors. Up to five $30,000 fellowships are
awarded each year (a year where you are paid just to write). Damon Lindelof,
creator of Lost got his start in the industry through this competition.
This competition is the most respected scriptwriting competition in the
world and getting onto the semi finalist list is often enough to get you
an agent or at least some meetings.

SLAMDANCE
HORROR COMPETITION
Slamdance and Angel Baby Entertainment are hungry for blood,
so we're pitting the best horror screenplays against each other in a fight
to the death. The Grand Prize Winner will have their screenplay made into
a feature motion picture. Angel Baby will purchase the rights to the winning
original screenplay and will produce a feature film in association with
Liberty Studios, the oldest continually running movie studio in New York
City.
The Writer will receive an upfront payment of $10,000 for all screenplay
rights (against 5% of the film's budget, the minimum for which shall be
US$200 thousand) as part of a purchase agreement for the screenplay rights.
The screenplay will be produced by Angel Baby Entertainment in collaboration
with Executive Producer Michael Malgiero and in association with Slamdance.
All submitted screenplays are in the running for the $1,000 Creative Excellence
Award, including those not willing to sign the Purchase Agreement with
Angel Baby Entertainment.
Deadline: Postmarked by December 11, 2008
Entry Fee: $40 feature length submissions (60-120+ pages),
$30 feature length re-submissions. All entries include online feedback.
